Development of Outdoor Digital Signage in the Next 5 Years


Outdoor LCD digital signage (specifically all-in-one products, excluding splicing) has been around 10,000 units in the past two years. In 2020, the shipments for the whole year were 9,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 39.3%. The main application areas are in the transportation industry, accounting for 39%, followed by communities and commercial real estate, each at 18%.


Ⅰ. Outdoor LCD digital signage large-screen products: booming with a scale of over 15 billion yuan


Outdoor digital signage also includes large-scale products such as LCD splicing walls and LCD screens. From the recent outdoor media promotion and demand, the creative display of LCD screens has become a new trend. LCD screens emerged with the hosting of the 2008 Olympic Games and then entered a period of vigorous development.


According to research, in 2020, the market size of outdoor large-scale digital signage (including LCD splicing and LCD screen, excluding LCD PC) will be close to 15.3 billion yuan, a slight increase of 0.3% over the same period. With the development of the "night economy" and the pull of new infrastructure policies, outdoor large-scale digital signage growth will be expected to remain above 10% in the next five years, and the market size will reach more than 27 billion yuan in 2025.


Ⅱ. Digital signage retail self-service equipment: shipments reached 280,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%


The broad definition of the scope of LCD digital signage also includes self-service terminals (not included in the above statistics). According to data, digital signage is mostly used in the media industry, accounting for 37%, followed by the retail market, accounting for 19%.


Self-service terminals are a high-profile emerging development area of "smart media" in the digital signage market while the epidemic had hardest hit the retail market.
